Let's skip the long boring story of who met whom when and how; we all met and that's what's important. First Circuit is at times an ocean wave washing you out to sea, and other times a view from the mountain. And sometimes they'll make you want to fall to your knees and throw inhibitions to the heavens.
Now let's go back to the long boring story. When Adam Kurtz moved to Sunny Los Angeles in 2010
... [More], he brought with him a catalog of songs written and yet to be written (if we allow ourselves to step out from the constraints of 3 lowly dimensions). He left behind a successful Russian power trio called Kino Proby (which won Portland Maine's 'Best Band in the World' award in 2009), and joined up with local 60's throw-back faves the Damselles and the TC4. Thru that band, he met Adeline and joined Adeline and the Philistines, where he plucked drummer Dustin Prince. Then one night while catching some local dudes play local tunes, he spotted from afar Kevin Milner, showcasing his Pedal Steel skillz, and Adam said "you!" Emily St. Amand-Poliakoff, who has more letters in her name than the rest of the band combined (we did the math - twice), started coming to practice, everyone assuming she knew someone else first. Legend has it, she doesn't even exist! The final missing piece was a long-time-ago former bandmate of Mr. Prince's, Jessica Fagre, who added a string to the typical 4-string bass and started in a'jammin'.
2012 marks First Circuit's birth. Its inception. Its launching pad year. We hope you'll join us for the ride.
